Holding pride of place at One Nob Hill, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins commands a reputation for its historic legacy and service excellence. Described as “a shrine to comfort and culture that compares with the world’s finest hostelries,” the Mark Hopkins opened in December 1926 with a formal society dinner in its grand ballrooms. Since then, the Room of the Dons and the Peacock Court have become the focal point of gatherings for San Francisco’s elite.

Of all the InterContinental Mark Hopkins' artistic and architectural treasures, some of the finest are the nine murals depicting early California in the Room of the Dons. The nine murals by Frank van Sloun and Maynard Dixon portray scenes in rich reds, blues and browns against a background of gold leaf. These paintings have delighted generations of San Francisco natives and visitors lucky enough to have lingered beneath them.

The Peacock Court is San Francisco history. Twelve presidents, countless royals, heads of state, celebrities and dignitaries have been received within these walls. During the 1940s, scores of famous big bands including Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Anson Weeks, and Rudy Vallee performed live radio broadcasts in this room. World War II servicemen stood in snakelike lines down California Street for hours, just for a chance to swing to their favorite musicians in the famous Peacock Court.

Venues

Peacock Court
The Peacock Court exemplifies elegance and opulence. Located on the Lobby level, the Peacock Court is a 4,400 square foot majestic ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows draped in amber and bronze silk brocade. Gold and ivory walls effervesce and the intricate molding around the perimeter and ceiling create a unique aesthetic for your ceremony or reception. Crystal scones and soft overhead lighting will romance guests while they celebrate. The grand stage and gold Peacock icon stand at the front of the Court. From the stage guests can be entertained by a ten piece band or DJ. Or add a spotlight on a sweetheart or cake table fro all guests to view. A dance floor can be placed at the foot of the stage or in the center of the Court for optimal festivities.

Whether you have 300 for a ceremony or 350 for a wedding reception, the Peacock Court's impressive style will leave your guests with long lasting memories.

Room of the Dons
For a truly unique experience, host your wedding ceremony or reception in the Room of the Dons. Awe your guests with an artistic treasure - Seven-foot-high panels painted by two of California's most famous Western artists, Maynard Dixon and Frank Van Sloun. An inspiring canvas of rich reds, blues, and browns offset by delicate cream colored walls and deep colored carpeting allow for a variety of color palettes. A distinguished bronze chandelier hangs in the center of the room along with subtle crystal scones around the perimeter. Say your “I Do’s” as you gaze through floor to ceiling windows onto the San Francisco city skyline or dance into the night with a backdrop of sparkling city lights.

Located on the Lobby level, the Room of the Dons is an ideal venue for your ceremony or intimate reception.

California Room & Powell Room
Located on the California Street level, subtle red carpeting with gold accents adorn these rooms. Delicate pale taupe walls and sparkling crystal chandeliers add a flare of richness. Windows and city views allow guests to enjoy famous Nob Hill sights and sounds. These adjoining rooms create the perfect space for a small ceremony or intimate cocktail reception and dinner.

Florentine & Garden Room
Located on the Lobby level, the Florentine and Garden Rooms wax romantic with pale blue and champagne tones. Grand windows adorned with ornate silk drapes reminiscent of a Versailles Chateau and large mirrors offer the perfect setting for an intimate rehearsal dinner or reception.

Six Continents Room & George D. Smith
Located on the mezzanine level, this room boasts a modern decor with large windows and all the sights and sounds unique to Nob Hill. Subtle red carpeting with gold accents and pale taupe walls interlaced with crystal lighting make these rooms perfect for a wedding ceremony or reception.

Lobby Terrace
Located on the Lobby level, lofty ceilings with intricate wrought iron skylights offer an open and airy space for a cocktail reception. Perfect for large receptions as the Lobby Terrace opens up directly to the Peacock Court.

Top Of The Mark
The legendary Top of the Mark offers a stunning 360 degree view of San Francisco. Designed in an Art Deco theme, rich woods and wrought iron drape around the space. Step up onto a terrace that can be transformed for your ceremony with a beautiful floor to ceiling mirror as the backdrop. Seat guests overlooking the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, or downtown skyline.
