Masa's Restaurant

Fine Dining Excellence in San Francisco: our team

For nearly 25 years, Masa's continues to be recognized around the world as being a global leader in fine dining. Masataka Kobayashi, Masa's original Executive Chef began a tradition of excellence and received high media acclaim and recognition for his amazing work with French cuisine. After his untimely death, other culinary stars such as Julian Serrano, Ron Siegel and Richard Reddington continued to bring innovation to Masa's while still upholding the high quality and standards originally set by Masa himself. Today, a young and vibrant team of talented individuals follows in the Masa's tradition.

Exceutive Chef, Gregory Short brings a fresh perspective to contemporary French cuisine. Having learned and worked for seven years at the world renowned French Laundry with Thomas Keller and then opening Loft at The Montage Resort in Laguna Beach, California, Short is delighting guests and critics with his seasonal menus.

With over 30 years of creating delectable desserts, Executive Pastry Chef John McKee is a Bay area favorite. Having worked at some of the top San Francisco hotels and having owned a successful bakery in San Francisco’s affluent Marina district, McKee comes to Masa’s having previously been a Master Dessert instructor from the California Culinary Academy. “Creating desserts without limitations” is a key element as to why his desserts at Masa’s are so memorable.

Master Sommelier Alan Murray shares his knowledge with the chefs and guests to delicately pair and recommend selections from Masa's extensive international wine collection.

Keeping a mindful eye on providing guests with superior service and overseeing operations is General Manager and Maitre d'Hotel, Adam Lovelace. A former Culinary Institute of America graduate, Mr. Lovelace also worked at such famous restaurants as The Girl & The Fig in Sonoma (before opening the highly regarded and sadly missed The Girl and the Gaucho in Glen Ellen) and Bistro Bis/Vidalia in Washington, DC (with James Beard Award winning chef, Jeffrey Buben) before returning Northern California to work at Masa's.

With this amazing talent behind the Masa's name, it is no wonder that Masa's continues to be rated amongst the top restaurants in Northern California.
