The City of Calistoga is located 80 miles North of San Francisco in the scenic Napa Valley. It is found at the top of the Napa Valley, at the foot of Mt. St. Helena, which rises 4,500 feet above the city.
Calistoga, population 5,000, is a popular destination for visitors to the heart of the Wine Country. Calistoga is best known for its geothermal hot springs, mineral water, and is home to California's Old Faithful Geyser. It is also the home of the Napa County Fairgrounds.
Calistoga has maintained its small town atmosphere while still being able to accommodate many tourist each year.
Following are some of the dining, spa and wine tasting opportunities to choose from:

DINING IN ST. HELENA
Culinary Institute of America: The Greystone Wine Spectator Restaurant is one of the most attractive and interesting restaurants in all the Napa Valley. Situated in the imposing Greystone Cellars that once housed Christian Brothers Winery, the restaurant is stunning yet cozy. With a number of open food preparation areas for patrons to view, it's a suitable showcase for the Culinary Institute of America, which operates a professional cooking school on the magnificent premises. The open fires are especially welcome in winter, but even in summer, the massive stone structure insulates the dining room from the heat outside. The wine choices are excellent, and a unique treat is "flights" of wines to compare and contrast. 2555 Main St., 707-967.2303

Interesting wines at reasonable prices by the glass. Unhurried and friendly service. 1310 Main St., 707-963.7088

Martini House: One of our personal favorites. Martini house is a converted craftsman style bungalow serving upscale California cuisine in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the main restaurant or the delightful garden dining area. Reservations required but small groups can usually find a table in the laid back bar area downstairs which is the preferred spot for locals. Martini House, 1245 Spring Street @ Oak, St. Helena, CA 94574, 707- 963-2233 http://www.kuleto.com/Martini.htm
Tra Vigne: Classic wine country cuisine with food that marries Tuscan techniques and recipes with fresh local ingredients. The restaurant features one large spacious room in an old brick winery with an elegant old bar along one side. Its most fun to eat Italian style, with an appetizer, then pasta, risotto or soup, then a main course and perhaps a salad or vegetable. The wine list is imaginative and long. Tra Vigne is not a bargain eatery, but it’s not ridiculously expensive and it’s worth the experience. 1050 Charter Oak Ave., 707-963.4444 http://www.travignerestaurant.com/
